National poomsae referees may apply for promotion if they meet the promotion criteria which are based on their poomsae coach qualification, performance and officiating experience.
The minimum requirements for each class are as follows.
3rd class (Provisional)
- Level 1 (Provisional) Poomsae Coach Certification
- Successfully completed the National Poomsae Referee Course conducted by the Singapore Taekwondo Federation
3rd class
- 3rd Class (Provisional) Poomsae Referee Certification
- Level 1 Poomsae Coach Certification
- 30 hours of officiating experience in STF sanctioned poomsae tournaments
2nd class
- 2nd dan
- 3rd Class Poomsae Referee Certification
- Level 2 Poomsae Coach Certification
- Officiated at least 40 hours at STF sanctioned poomsae tournaments. (A minimum of 30 hours must be chalked up from National or National Inter-School tournaments.)
- Approved by the Chairman, Board of Referee
1st class
- 3rd dan
- 2nd Class Poomsae Referee Certification
- Level 3 Poomsae Coach Certification
- Officiated at least 60 hours at STF sanctioned poomsae tournaments. (A minimum of 40 hours must be gained from National or National Inter-School tournaments.)
- Approved by the Chairman, Board of Referee
The application form for promotion is available at the Secretariat. National poomsae referees may apply for promotion as soon as they obtain the minimum requirements.
1st Class national poomsae referees who holds at least a 4th dan (Kukkiwon) may apply to participate in the international poomsae referee course after officiating either the National Poomsae Championships or the National Inter-School Championships once as a 1st Class. A referee is considered as having officiated if he clocks at least 90% of the tournament hours.
On the recommendation of the Chairman, Board of Referees, the Management Committee will consider the application.
The Management Committee reserves the right to decide on the number of qualified national referees for each international referee course. If there are more applicants than the number of referees, the Management Committee shall consult the recommendations of the Board of Referees for selection of suitable participants. The Board
will give priority to active referees. However, if all things being equal, it will rank the referees according to their seniority as referees and submit its recommendations based on the ranking.
