What a Show!

The taekwondo warriors comprising children from the Assisi Hospice gave a spectacular demonstration on 24 February 2007 at the Pan Pacific (Singapore) Ballroom. Their energy, enthusiasm and skills surprised and thrilled everyone who was at the official launch of the Hospice ‘Save As A Family’ Teddy Bank.

Among the spectators was the Guest of Honour, Mr Zainudin Nordin (Mayor of Central Singapore District), who unveiled the Hospice logo by breaking a plank with a punch. The plank was held by Mr Milan Kwee (President of the Singapore Taekwondo Federation).

Mr Kwee also led the dynamic performers through some routines. He was assisted by Sister Linda Sim, a Catholic nun from the Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood.Sister Linda momentarily stole the limelight from the warriors. She awed the spectators not only with her amazing display of flexibility and techniques but also her ability to defend herself against three assailants.

When the spotlight shifted to the warriors, they made sure that they were not outdone by Sister Linda. They performed, among other things, gravity-defying feats, which were not expected at their grade, and mesmerized the spectators.

The demonstration was simply fantastic!

As the Teddy Bank project is organized in aid of the Assisi Hospice, the Federation encourages all taekwondo members to support it. For more information on the project, please call 6347 6469.
