SNOC-NTUC Scholarship for Two Taekwondo Athletes

Daryl Tan and Nurul Shafinas Bte Abdul Rahman, both winners of the bronze medal in the 1st Youth Olympic Games (YOG), saw their efforts being recognized when they collected their SNOC-NTUC Fairprice Foundation Sports Scholarship from Mr Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence and President of Singapore National Olympic Council on 15 September 2010 at the Singapore Sports School.

They were each awarded $17,500. The scholarship which will be administered by the Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) will be used for, among other things, their academic education and taekwondo development.

Wong Liang Ming, the coach, Christopher Lee and Zakirah Bte Zakaria, the other two Singapore taekwondo representatives at the YOG, were present to witness the ceremony.

At the reception, they took the opportunity to interact with some of the VIPs including Mr Ng Ser Miang, Vice-President of the International Olympic Committee and the SNOC and Mr Seah Kian Peng, MP for Marine Parade GRC.
